TravelHealth101: Our mission is education

Travel Health 101 (TH101) is dedicated to the provision of basic travel health information for healthcare providers and international travelers.  TH101 provides resources to lessen the burden and help new clinics get started, in addition to providing basic information for the traveler.

International Respiratory Infections Society

The International Respiratory Infections Society (IRIS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting international education, collaboration, and research.

TravelHealth101 Provider Course- $325

This 10-module course takes learners from a basic introduction of international travel counseling, through the nuances of traveling to individual countries around the world, to a review of vaccines and travel-related documentation.

TravelHealth101 Patient Videos- $25 per month

If your clinic prefers options to scheduling in-person office visits and wants to provide patient education electronically, these seven patient information videos may provide you with that capability.  Your monthly subscription enables your patients to access those videos at will. 

Getting Your Travel Clinic Started- $200

As international travel returns to pre-pandemic levels, you may be interested in beginning an International Travel Clinic or providing those services in your existing clinic. We provide documents and other resources to assist in the development of your Travel Clinic.

Ruth Carrico PhD DNP APRN CIC FSHEA FNAP FAAN is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the field of infection prevention and vaccinology. For more than thirty years, Dr. Carrico has been involved in national policy development and served an extended term on the CDC’s Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC). In that role, she was lead author for the 2017 Infection Prevention Core Practices, a roadmap for infection prevention including the use of vaccines. Dr. Carrico launched the International Travel Clinic in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and led its growth and development into the only full service travel clinic in Kentucky able to address the full spectrum of pre-travel counseling, in-travel needs, TravelHealth101 are reflective of the experiences, expertise and partnerships vital as we address the return of international travel post-pandemic. Dr. Carrico has successfully achieved the Certificate in Travel Health™ through the International Society of Travel Medicine.

Julio A Ramirez MD is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the field of infectious diseases. After serving as the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, he moved to Norton Healthcare to expand the operations of the Norton Infectious Diseases Institute as the Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Ramirez also serves as the Chief Executive Office for the International Respiratory Infections Society, a non-profit organization focused on education worldwide.
